Anna and Castiel are one of my favourite relationships to have been on TV.

I wish we had seen more of them together. But one of the great things about them is that even though we didn’t get enough of them on-screen, there’s so much implied history between them, and this great chemistry, that it’s easy to imagine what their relationship would have been like. 

And there’s all these layers to it. They’re comrades in arms, and friends, and mentor and student, and brother and sister. My favourite aspect of their relationship is the big-sister/little-brother thing. Because we don’t see Cas in that kind of dynamic with anyone else. Castiel isn’t close with any of the other angels who outrank him. And (maybe I’m just forgetting the other occasions) but I feel like the most child-like and vulnerable that we’ve ever seen Castiel is when he was asking Anna to tell him what to do. I love that that happened, because it was such a contrast to everything else we’d seen from his character. And I love that it happened with her. 

And Anna. (AnnaaaaaAAAAAaaaa). She was so strong and self-determined and loving and none of those things in a Strong-Female-Character (tm) kind of way (in my opinion). She could have been so much more than what they did with her. I loved the sadness in her eyes when she asked Cas, “like in the old days?” Like a part of her missed the simplicity of those times, and the closeness that they shared, but at the same time she knows that she’s better off with her freedom. And it was hard for her to make the decision to fall, and she knows that Castiel’s going to have to face that too, but she can’t hold his hand through it, because that would be missing the point. 

Just, Cas and Anna, man.
